The Original Shophouse

Founded in 1989, Jing Hua Xiao Chi was started by native
Singaporeans Mr. and Mrs. Han. Located at the place first
known as the “Qun Zhong Eating House”, Jing Hua was one of
the first occupants of a row of recently refurbished shophouses along Neil Road in Singapore’s Chinatown. The family started
Jing Hua as a means to make ends meet, and took their recipes from Mr. Han’s mother, who lived in Shanghai, and from Mrs.
Han, who made good dumplings at home. That is how it all
began, and over the years, the family slowly adapted their
recipes to suit Singaporean tastes. The result is a tight menu
of dumplings, noodles and desserts that is appealing to people of all nationalities who travel through the small island nation.

Bugis Village

Jing Hua Xiao Chi introduced its second venue along Rochor
Road in 2013. Located at one of the restored shophouses in
Bugis Village, the outlet brings the Jing Hua experience to a
younger audience in its new location. The restaurant is just
behind the bustling Bugis Street that attracts young shoppers
and tourists. The interior features a one-of-a-kind movie
poster from a Singaporean artist, but the menu is still the good
old Jing Hua menu from Neil Road.

Palais Renaissance

After more than a quarter century of serving
“honest-to-goodness”, home-style dishes that have been
passed on through two generations, Jing Hua opened its third
branch at Palais Renaissance in 2014. This Ochard Road outlet offers signature Jing Hua creations while introducing a modern
dining experience for its fans. The 90-seater exhibits a bold
and graphic take on Singaporean Straits Chinese tea room
design with hints of Art Deco elements, while retaining its
welcoming communal essence. The interior respectfully distills
the qualities of a 25-year-old pioneering family restaurant
known for its traditional-style Xiao Chi into an authentic and
fun contemporary Singaporean dining & bar experience.
